(2) The full names and the affiliations of all the authors (In case of co-authored papers, the name appeared first will be regarded as the first and corresponding author’s unless noted otherwise.)

(3) The romanized name(s) of the author(s) and the English title of the paper

(4) An English abstract of approximately 150 words followed by 5 or so key words

(7) Tables with explanations in English as necessary

(8) Figures (e.g., graphs, charts, maps, drawings, and photographs) with explanations in English as necessary

(9) The romanized name(s), the address(es), and the e-mail address(es) of the author(s)

1. Footnotes of adequate quantity should be included in the body and reserved for additional commentaries or explanations only (thus, content footnotes) as in (1). In contrast, all bibliographic references should be placed in text with an author-date citation system as in (2). 

1) Although not for all the languages of these groups: cf. the loss of synharmonism in Iranized Uzbek; on the other hand, examples of Finnic languages, Estonian, for example, may be cited where a loss of synharmonism also took place.

1) References should be arranged in groups by their languages.

2) Reference written in the same language as the manuscript should be placed first.

3) References written in an identical language should be arranged in alphabetical order of the language by the name of the first author.

4) References written by the same author should be arranged bythe publication date.

(2) Reference components: The following information should be included in a reference as shown in the examples below. Book titles should be in italic or Gothic type. Inclusive page numbers should be provided in a reference to a journal article or a book chapter. The volume and the issue (where available) number of periodicals should also be included.

1) Books

Author. Year. Title. Location: Publisher.

Example of a book in oriental letters:

淸格尔泰. 1998. 民族硏究文集. 北京: 民族出版社.

Example of a book in occidental letters:

Poppe, Nicholas. 1965. Introduction to Altaic linguistics, Wiesbaden: Otto Harrassowitz.

2) Journal articles

Author. Year. Title of the article. Title of a periodical or a book The volume and the issue (where available) number of periodicals. Inclusive page numbers. Publisher.

Example of a journal article in oriental letters:

屈六生. 1990. 试析清代满文档案汉译中的管界问题. 满语研究 11. 95-100. 黑龙江省满语研究所.

Example of a journal article in occidental letters:

Poppe, Nicholas. 1975. Altaic linguistics ― An overview. Science of Language 6. 130-186. The Journal of the Tokyo Institute for Advanced Studies of Language.

(3) Additions

1) A romanized title of a reference work written in a language other than English should be followed by an English translation of the source title within square brackets (‘[ ]’) as in the following example.

Jin, Qicong. 1984. Nüzhen wen cidian [A dictionary of the Jurchen script]. Beijing: Wenwu Chubanshe.

2) An edited book or a collection of articles.

An edited book in a reference to a chapter in it should be given in the following format: ‘[In] [editor’s first name last name] [(ed.)], [title], pages.’ when written in occidental letters and ‘[editor’s name (編)], [title], pages 收錄.’ The publication date should be inserted between the editor’s name and the title of the volume if the chapter (or the article) cited is a republished work.
