The polysemantic verb of the modern Yakut language kiir is attributed to the group of motion verbs according to its semantics. It is presented by 22 lexical meanings, 1 grammatical and 44 phraseological units. The semantic potential of the verb kiir contents the following concepts: motion, position in space, change of state, possession, neutral and visual perception of motion. Phraseological units with the component kiir are presented by phraseological unities and phraseological combinations. The verb kiir means the mechanical movements of a subject into some object. The object-localizer can be presented both by enclosed spaces and any other objects. The basic original meaning of the verb kiir in the modern Yakut language is the seme “to enter, to go into, to get into, to penetrate into something”. The group of phraseological unities includes idioms both with semantics not motivated by the meaning of its constituent parts and idioms with semantics motivated by the meaning of its constituent parts. The relevant characteristics of phraseological units are semantic reconsideration, stability, and separable components. The criteria for identification of phraseological units can be presented as follows: complete or partial reconsideration of constituent parts, structural separability, lexical composition stability, entire reproducibility. The most productive type of the lexical variation of phraseological units are substitution, incorporation into the phraseological units, quantitative and combined variability.
