이충근, 조영태. "고강도 신체활동에 영향을 미치는 인지된 주위환경 - 서울시 성인인구를 중심으로-."
Objectives: Vigorous physical activities have known to be one of the important elements in promoting health. This research aims to investigate whether perceived neighborhood characteristics affect vigorous physical activities among adults Seoul residents (aged 19 to 64), net of individual characteristics.
Methods: Utilizing the‘2005 Seoul Citizens Health Indicators Survey’data, this study estimates the probability of vigorous physical activities. Particular attention is given to the effects of three perceived neighborhood characteristics (satisfaction of social relationship with neighbors, satisfaction of park and recreational facilities in the neighborhood, and satisfaction of public security in the neighborhood). Logistic regression models are analyzed separately by sex for the parameter estimation,
Results: Vigorous physical activities are positively associated with three perceived neighborhood characteristics only for women, while neither significant nor substantive association is found for men.
Conclusions: As the pattern of association between vigorous physical activities and perceived neighborhood social environment is not consistent by gender, different approaches should be incorporated to increase vigorous physical activities of adult men and women in Seoul.
